Hello friends today we will talking about System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method of paddy Cultivation and DEPOG Nursery Method.
SRI Methods of Paddy Cultivation
Before that, I request you that if you like our post, then please share this post and reach it to the needy.
Full Form of SRI - system of Rice Intensification
The full name of SRI is System of Rice Intensification (SRI).
This method was started by Father Henri de Loulaney in 1983 in Madagascar, Africa.
This technique is also called Madagascar method or Sri method of paddy production.
With this technique, almost double the production is obtained in paddy crop, much more than the normal method. So let's know about it :-
System of Rice Intensification (SRI) Method of Growing Paddy
What is System of Rice Intensification (SRI) ?
This is a new method of growing paddy which has been developed in Madagascar by Fr.Henri de Loulaney.
In this method, water, time and seeds are saved but labor requirement is more.
In this method of growing paddy, chemical fertilizers or other chemicals are used sparingly by using more organic matter. Due to which the structure of the soil improves.
In this method, the paddy fields are not filled with water as in the normal method, the field is filled with water, but in this method, the fields are moistened by frequent irrigation without filling the fields with water.
For sowing in this method, very few seed for the nursery of paddy is about 5-6 kg Seeds are required at the rate of per hectare.
In this method, the planting of paddy plants is 25×25 cm. is done in. That is, the distance from plant to plant and row to row is 25 - 25 cm. is kept.
Methods of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) :-
Method :- In this method such variety of paddy should be selected in which maximum tillers emerge. (hybrid varieties)
Only 10 to 12 days old seedling prepared in paddy nursery should be planted in a well prepared main field.
The plant has to be planted only one by one (Single-Single) and the distance from plant to plant and row to row is 25 - 25 cm. Should be.
FYM (dung manure) and the rest of the fertilizer should be applied in the same proportion as in the normal method. If you do fertilizer management that is great.
Precautions: - This method is not easy, to adopt it, many things have to be taken care of like:
• While making a paddy nursery, keep in mind that the soil for the nursery should be light, sandy loam or loamy, and well dung should be mixed in it. So that while uprooting the paddy plant, its roots do not break because the plant is very small (10-12 days old).
• Plant to plant and row to row distance has to be kept 25 × 25 which is not an easy task. (The distance is managed with the help of rope)
• Hoe should be run between the plant and the rows.
• This is difficult to do over a very large area.
DEPOG Nursery Method In Rice Cultivation :-
DEPOG Method :-
Depog method is a method of preparing nursery of paddy. This method of preparing paddy nursery has come from the Philippines.
In this method, 25-30 square meters of paddy nursery area is sufficient for planting one hectare area.
In this method, 11 to 14 days old seedlings are ready after sowing the seed, the plant becomes ready for transplanting.
DEPOG Method Origin - Phillipines
Method /Procedure :-
In this method, 1 square meter is used to prepare seedlings in nursery. 3 kg seed is taken for 1 hectare.
Soil is not required for the preparation of paddy seedlings. Cover the paddy seeds without soil, by moistening the floor, either on a wooden surface with polythene or with jute sacks or sackcloth.
Then in 11 to 14 days this plant becomes ready for transplanting.
